Simplicita Zero: the Irrigation Tap Timer That Works Even Without Pressure

17 September 2026

Rain expands its range of irrigation tap timers with the new Simplicita Zero: an analogue, intuitive solution designed for those who want to automate garden irrigation simply, without depending on the available pressure in the system. Available in 1 and 2-zone versions, it fits in seconds onto any tap with a ¾” connection and is programmed manually with three dials – no display, no menu to scroll through.

The result is a controller suited to a wider range of situations than comparable competing products: it works in gardens with ageing systems, low-flow wells and gravity-fed tanks – exactly where other products require a minimum pressure that is often not available.

Works even at 0 Bar: the ball valve difference

In most irrigation tap timers, the solenoid valve that controls the water flow requires a minimum pressure to open. Simplicita Zero resolves this structural limitation with a ball valve: water flow is guaranteed mechanically, without depending on mains pressure. The result is a controller that works even at 0 Bar, adapting to systems that traditional alternatives would not be able to manage.

The maximum supported pressure is 8 Bar, with flow rates ranging from 11.2 to 33.6 L/min. A range that covers almost all residential irrigation systems, from drip irrigation for vegetable gardens and planters to sprinkler irrigation for larger green areas.

Three dials, everything under control

Simplicita Zero is programmed using three physical controls. There are no buttons to hold down, sequences to remember or displays that are difficult to read in direct sunlight: each dial corresponds to a single parameter.

The first sets the start time, selectable between 1:00 and 23:00 – a rare feature in this category, which allows irrigation to be synchronised with the coolest hours of the day and reduces evaporation. The second defines the duration, from 30 seconds up to 45 minutes. The third regulates the frequency, from every 6 hours up to every 7 days.

For any unforeseen need, manual irrigation is always available, activated with a single turn of the duration dial regardless of the set programme.

In the 2-zone version, duration and frequency are set separately for each outlet: it is possible to water a flower bed at one frequency and a vegetable garden at another, with a single controller.

Rain sensor and autonomous operation during rainfall

Simplicita Zero is equipped with a Jack input for connecting the Rain rain sensor. When the sensor detects rainfall, the programmed cycles are automatically suspended – an ingenious safety feature that prevents unnecessary watering and extends battery life.

The sensor status and battery charge level are indicated by dedicated LED indicators on the controller, readable at a glance without having to approach the unit. The batteries are two standard AA alkaline cells – no proprietary charger, no cable, available everywhere.
