CERT valve boxes: ICMQ renews certification until 2027 and extends it to the new CERT solar line

ICMQ, an independent certification body, has renewed the product certification for Rain’s CERT range of valve boxes, now valid until 31 December 2027. As of this year, the certification also covers the new CERT solar line: valve boxes with a solar panel built into the lid.

What ICMQ certifies

Product certificate no. P 00938 confirms that CERT valve boxes and CERT solar lids comply with EN 124-1:2015 and EN 124-6:2015. These are the European standards for gully tops and manhole tops, i.e. access covers and gratings. All certified models fall within load class A15.

What class A15 means

Under EN 124, class A15 applies to areas used only by pedestrians and cyclists and involves a test load of 15 kN. For installers, this means fitting valve boxes in gardens, flower beds and paths with load resistance verified to the standard, not merely declared.

The value of independent verification

Certification issued by a third-party body gives designers, installers and clients an objective benchmark for product performance. This matters especially in specifications and tenders, where components certified to the relevant standards are often preferred.

CERT solar: solar power, same certified strength

The CERT solar line features a 1.5 W solar panel built into the lid, which powers the Pure Vision BLD battery-powered irrigation controller. This gives the irrigation system an independent power supply in locations with no mains electricity, while the valve boxes retain the same certified class A15 rating as the CERT range.

Made in Italy

CERT and CERT solar valve boxes are manufactured at Rain’s Italian plants, with direct control over the entire production process, which is also assessed for certification purposes.
